Monsters HD Dives to the Lower Depths of Fear with Their “Creature Features Fest” in HD on Saturday, April 22
With a remake of CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON scheduled for production in 2007, interest in the Gill Man’s exploits is as active as ever. In development for over 20 years, the new CREATURE feature will be directed by SAHARA’S Brett Eisner, after attempts from such genre talents as Guillermo Del Toro, John Carpenter and John Landis have sunk to the bottom of the lagoon. In addition, a new CREATURE novel by Paul DiFilippo will be hitting store on June 28 from DH Press. As seen in Monsters HD’s “Monsterama: Creature Collectables”, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON toys, artwork, comics, and DVDs are big sellers, proving that you can’t keep a good Gill Man down.

REVENGE OF THE CREATURE (1955) (Universal) Director: Jack Arnold “Terror is loose in the city! All New Thrills!” The second of the Creature films finds the Gill Man captured and relocated to a Florida aquarium where attempts are made to tame him, but you can’t keep a good monster down. John Agar and Lori Nelson star. Also stars Clint Eastwood in his earliest feature role. Airs 4/22 at 3:30pm & 2:15am and 4/23 at 11:45am. FIRST TIME IN HIGH DEFINITION!
THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US (1956) (Universal) Director: John Sherwood “Fury stalks the streets and a city screams in TERROR! A City Screams in Terror! All New Underwater Thrills!” The third and final Creature film finds the Gill Man captured again and altered by a mad scientist to breathe air. The Gill Man escapes and runs amuck in a nearby city. In 1954, THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON made a big splash with moviegoers, jumping off the screen and right into monster lovers’ hearts in glorious 3-D. The Gill Man emerged as one of the most popular of the Universal monsters. Monsters HD’s Monsterama series takes a look at the world of CREATURE COLLECTIBLES. Viewers will see everything from model kits to board games, to paint-by-number sets and rubber masks, as well as super rare items such as a Japanese-manufactured Creature pillow. HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP (1980) (New Concorde) Director: Barbara Peters. “From The Caverns Of The Deep... It Strikes! They're not human. But they hunt human women. Not for killing. HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP (1996) (New Concorde) Director: Jeff Yonis Made-for-Cable remake starring Robert Carradine, Emma Sands, and Clint Howard adding an environmental spin to the story. The humanoids still bite people’s heads off, though. Airs on 4/22 at 9:30pm and on 4/23 at 6:45am.
TERROR BENEATH THE SEA (1970) Director: Hajime Sato. In this Japanese-made underwater adventure, a group of international journalists are aboard an American submarine to witness the unveiling of a new innovative homing torpedo. Reporters Ken (future martial arts great Sonny Chiba) and Jenny (Peggy Neal) decide to do some investigating when the silhouette of a strange creature appears on their monitor. Their search leads them to a secret undersea base (that strangely resembles EPCOT!) where a mad scientist in cheap dime store sunglasses is planning to take over the word. No giant monsters here, but lots of creature mayhem, fighting, and other exciting action to boot in this colorful sci-fi potboiler. Airs on 4/22 at 11pm and on 4/23 at 9:45am.
