Summer’s coming, kids, and you know what that means – that’s right, summer camp. To commemorate this momentous occasion that’s a favorite with both parents and axe-wielding maniacs, Monsters HD has decided to give those maniacs a day to state their case with the “Slash Back to Summer Camp” movie marathon this Saturday, July 22nd. Spend an entire day’s worth of summer camp fun, frolic, fornication and decapitation, all in beautiful high definition. It’s better than going to summer camp because, well, you won’t get murdered, for starters.
Films Include:
SLEEPAWAY CAMP (1983) (American Eagle) Director: Robert Hiltzik “A nice place for summer vacation - a perfect place to die!” A teenaged girl is sent to a Sleepaway Camp where her peers taunt her and consequently die in bizarrely violent ways. Stars Felissa Rose and Jonathan Tiersten
THE BURNING (1981) (MGM) Director: Tony Maylam. “A legend of terror isn't a campfire story anymore!” A camp janitor is horribly burned when a prank goes tragically wrong. Years later, the summer camp is plagued by a serial killer! Make-up effects by Tom Savini. Look for Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens and Holly Hunter in their film debuts.
MADMAN (1981) Director: Joe Giannone. “Deep in the woods, lurks a hideous evil... Don't even whisper his name!” Based on an upstate New York summer camp legend known as The Kropsy Maniac. During a campfire gathering, the elder member of the group tells of a spooky legend regarding a certain "Madman Marz," a maniacal farmer who slaughtered his family with an axe and retreated into the woods. Legend has it that if you should dare to say his name above whisper, the Madman would heed the call and return to kill anyone entering his domain.
FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980) (Paramount/Sean S. Cunningham Films) Director: Sean S. Cunningham. “They were warned. They are doomed. And on Friday the 13th, nothing will save them!” This is the one that started it all, spawning the most prolific horror franchise of the 1980s, which produced 9 sequels. Make-up by Tom Savini. Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer and a young Kevin Bacon star.
FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 (1981, Paramount) Director: Steve Miner - "The Body Count Continues". Five year after the events of FRIDAY THE 13th, Camp Crystal Lake is about to reopen when a new batch of camp counselors meet a grisly fate. It's the first screen appearance of Jason as a killer, before the hockey mask; in the film that many believe is the best of the series.
FRIDAY THE 13TH – THE FINAL CHAPTER (1984) (Paramount) Director: Joseph Zito. “Three times before you have felt the terror, known the madness, lived the horror. Jason’s back, and this is the one you’ve been screaming for. This is the one you’ll be dying for. Friday April 13th is Jason’s unlucky day.” The masked maniac meets his match in little a horror fan, Tommy Jarvis (Corey Feldman).
FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII – JASON TAKES MANHATTAN (1989) (Paramount) Director: Rob Hedden. “New York has a new problem. The Big Apple’s in big trouble!” High school classmates are terrorized by the hockey-masked maniac on a cruise ship bound for N.Y C. Jim Miller, Suzi Donaldson, and Kane Hodder star.
