Monsters HD Celebrates the Art of Stop Motion Animation with “Stop Motion Monster Mania” This July

Festival Includes the High Definition World Premiere of One of the Greatest Monster Films of All Time - KING KONG!

When animator Willis O’Brian created his groundbreaking stop motion animation effects work in 1933’s KING KONG, no one knew just how much it would change cinema. KONG would also influence a generation of great animators who sought to duplicate the master’s work. In 2005, that influence was felt in two of the films nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature that animated solely through stop motion, TIM BURTON’S CORPSE BRIDE and the winner, Nick Park’s WALLACE & GROMMIT: CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT and with Peter Jackson’s blockbuster remake of KONG. Interest in stop motion is at a new high, with those hit films, the release of stop motion master Ray Harryhausen’s new book, The Art of Ray Harryhausen (from Billboard Books), and a new series of stop motion short films based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe, produced by Harryhausen himself. It is in celebration of this great cinematic art form that Monsters HD pays tribute to the great stop motion animators with its daylong “Stop Motion Monster Mania Marathon” on July 28th and July 29th. For two days, some of the greatest moments in stop motion animation will be showcased with some of the greatest monster movies to take advantage of the craft, all broadcast in beautiful high definition. While stop motion may be an arduous task taking many months, all you’ll ever need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the show on Monsters HD.
