McDowell Says Zombie's "Halloween" Remake To Be A Trilogy

From Rotten Tomatoes.com:
"I've signed for three," said Malcolm McDowell, who is playing Dr. Loomis. "How about that? They obviously think it's going to be a big hit."

Having never seen a "Halloween" movie before, McDowell is confident that his portrayal of Loomis will be unique. "I have to tell you that I've never seen Halloween 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7. I must be one of the only people on the planet never to have seen any of the films and I'm so glad because I asked the director, Rob Zombie, whether he thought I should see them and he said, 'No, better no.'"

Though friendly with Donald Pleasance in his life, McDowell never managed to catch his friend's iconic role. "I could imagine him playing Loomis of course with that sinister thing that he has but it's a new look, it's a reinvention of it and he is completely different, my Loomis, I presume. So I guess there will be some people that will be sort of disappointed if they think I'm just going to copy him because I'm not."

McDowell was also informed that there were 8 "Halloween" movies before this remake. "Well, I'm obviously talking to an expert."

Hammer Horror Returns

LONDON, May 10, 2007 - A European consortium, headed by Dutch based Cyrte Investments BV, has acquired the legendary UK based Hammer Film Productions Limited, including its 295 title library for an undisclosed sum. The new management team is headed by Simon Oakes and Marc Schipper, formerly of Liberty Global Inc.

Spitfire Pictures founders Guy East and Nigel Sinclair will join the board as non-executive directors. Los Angeles based Spitfire Pictures has entered into a first look development and production pact with Hammer.

The newly constituted Hammer group will have shareholders equity and facilities in excess of approximately $50m. It is the intention to leverage this initial capital in the near future to provide a significantly increased production financing capacity.

Hammer will return to film and television production after more than 30 years with an active development programme designed to emulate the best traditions of Hammer. The new management plans to aggressively reinvigorate the Hammer brand for a new generation of horror-lovers utilizing web and mobile technologies, whilst retaining Hammer's significant heritage.

Hammer is best known for its gothic horror productions in the '50s and '60s, when it was the most innovative producer in the horror genre, enjoying global box-office success, and making the Hammer brand synonymous with horror. Hammer was responsible for the classic movie series of Dracula, Frankenstein, and Quatermass, forever imprinting its "Hammer House of Horror" slogan into the English language.

Steel Web Prepares Cinco de Mayo Massacre

Steel Web Studios is pleased to announce that pre-production has begun on "Cinco de Mayo Massacre", our second feature film.

The tale of "Cinco de Mayo Massacre" unfolds as a group of collegestudents become lost in the New Mexican desert on their way to a party. Theystumble across a secret Native American burial site and unwittingly disturban ancient Aztec spirit. Hell bent on revenge due to injustices from thepast, the spirit embarks on a bloodthirsty rampage through the desert.

The film was originally conceived as a fictitious title for a scene in Steel Web Studios' short film "Mail Order Bride". Soon after the release of the film, fans began to request that the concept actually be made into a movie.

The feature film is inspired by historic events and Latino folklore from the Southwestern United States. Rather than simply exploit the Mexican holidayof Cinco de Mayo, the film will explore some of the darker parts ofSpanish/American history, such as the conquest of the indigenous people in the name of religion, while attempting to represent the controversy surrounding the holiday itself.

"Cinco de Mayo Massacre" will be written and directed by David Quitmeyer, the creator of the notorious erotic horror film "Slaughter Disc". Davidwas born and raised in New Mexico, so Mexican, Hispanic and Indian cultureshave a heavy influence on him through out his life.

Steel Web Studios is currently seeking distributors, investors, cast and crew for "Cinco de Mayo Massacre".
