A Nightmare on Elm Street Trailer (2010)

Freddy Krueger returns in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street,’ a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another… but when they sleep, there is no escape. Jackie Earle Haley stars as Krueger.

Jackie Earle Haley Is Freddy Krueger

It should come as no surprise then that Jackie Earle Haley is playing Freddy Krueger. He was the only person we ever considered for the role.
We can't make all the fans happy, but those of you who are open to a new version of the Nightmare story have to be as excited as we are. Come on people, an Academy Award Nominated actor is playing Krueger. This was no small accomplishment, but everyone involved wanted it to happen. We all know that Jackie is an unbelievable actor, but I want to let you in on something you might not know. Sam, Drew and I had drinks with Jackie and were elated to learn that he is just like us. He is a huge fan of horror, and well aware of the rightful place Freddy Krueger holds in the horror pantheon. Quite simply, he knows what he has to do, and is very up to the task.
Head on over to the Platinum Dunes blog for more information.

A New Nightmare on Elm Street

From STYD:
Platinum Dunes is going to continue its working relationship with Warner Bros. and New Line for A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Brad Fuller and Andrew Form confirmed to STYD that their deal is done. "It's our next movie," confirmed Form, "hopefully shooting this spring."

"It's like what we're doing to Friday the 13th," says Fuller. "It's not Freddy cracking jokes. We want to make a horrifying movie. The concept is so scary, don't fall asleep or you'll die. This guy gets you when you're most vulnerable, in your sleep. We love that. That's the basis of the movie. It'll be most similar to the first one but in terms of kills and dreams we'll borrow from the entire series."

Shooting is expected to take place in the Chicago suburbs.

Addressing the great, incessant question: Will Robert Englund be back? Fuller and Form say they're seeking someone new to don the hat and red 'n green sweater, but they're hopeful Englund will be back for a part in the film.

Freddy Krueger is Ready for a New Nightmare

From Variety:
New Line sets up new 'Nightmare'

Platinum Dunes to get Freddy ready for return

Freddy Krueger is getting a wakeup call.

Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have been set by New Line to relaunch the movie series centered on the iconic killer, who haunts the dreams of teenagers and kills them in their sleep.

The trio will create a new franchise based on Wes Craven’s 1984 film “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

Originally played by Robert Englund, the Krueger character haunted nine films and two TV series in what was New Line’s most lucrative franchise until “The Lord of the Rings.”
Deal comes as Bay, Fuller and Form ready an early May start for “Friday the 13th,” New Line’s relaunch of another iconic baddie, Jason Voorhees. Marcus Nispel will direct from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (“Freddy vs. Jason”).

Both franchises will be given a complete overhaul, just as Platinum Dunes did with the Nispel-directed “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” New Line won’t hire a writer on “Nightmare” until the writers strike ends.

At Rogue Pictures, the Platinum Dunes team is prepping an exorcism thriller to be directed by David Goyer and a “Near Dark” remake to be directed by Samuel Bayer. Bay, Fuller and Form are also developing a Universal remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” with Martin Campbell directing Naomi Watts.

Nike “Freddy Krueger” Shoes

The sneaker is based upon the villain Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street films. The sneaker has an interesting design which features blood splatter accents and green/red striping which is a reference to Krueger’s sweater. Word has the Nike Dunk SB “Horror Pack" Freddy Krueger shoes are being released in November. We have also heard rumors of these shoes never being released due to to trademark infringements and possible lawsuit.

Enjoy the horror...
