House On Haunted Hill (1958)

First Film With the Amazing New Wonder EMERGO: The Thrills Fly Right Into The Audience!

Eccentric millionaire Fredrick Loren (Vincent Price) and his 4th wife, Annabelle, have invited 5 people to the house on Haunted Hill for a "Haunted House" party. Whoever will spend the night in "the only truly haunted house in the world" will earn ten thousand dollars each. As the night progresses, all the guests are trapped inside the house with ghosts, murderers, and other terrors.

The five strangers come to the house each needing the money for there own reasons. As they get to know one another. Fredrick hands each of them a twisted party favor (loaded handguns, delivered in their own tiny coffins), and then the spook-show begins.

Was the house was never really haunted? What is Annabelle's real reason for wanting the party? This Vincent Price camp classic has it all from blood drips from the ceiling, witch like women that float through rooms, and a walking skeleton. House on Haunted Hill is full of screams and things that go bump in the night. Is it scary? Maybe not. Is it classic horror fun. Yes.

Trivia:
The original theatrical presentations featured a typically outrageous Director Castles engineered gimmick: Emergo, which was nothing more than a skeleton that appeared to fly out of the screen and over the audience on a guide wire.
